Today, I will simply help inform you about the most common cancers that are diagnosed in the West. Later, in a separate post, I will do the same for the most common cancers that are diagnosed in the East. According to a recent report from the national cancer institute in the US the top 12 are as follows:
|Bladder Cancer||Lung Cancer|
|Colon and Rectal Cancer||Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma|
|Endometrial Cancer||Pancreatic Cancer|
|Kidney (Renal Cell) Cancer||Prostate Cancer|
This list does not include non melanomas skin cancers which are very high in numbers! Each one of these were diagnosed at least 40,000 or times more in the US in 2010. Lung cancer is the all time high this year (as it has been for some time now) at an estimated incidence of more than 222,000 cancers in 2010. Leukemias are the lowest with an incidence of around 43,000 new cased for 2010. This really does indicate that….stopping smoking is of UP MOST importance if the country as a whole wants to reduce the amount of deaths by cancer of its population as a whole. It also tells us that leukemia which are beyond our control are the smallest numbers. The top three in terms of incidence are: Lung , Colorectal (colon and rectal cancers) and Breast (both men and women).
